Active ballistic missile defense

Active ballistic missile defense— direct defensive action taken to intercept and destroy, or reduce the effectiveness of, an enemy attack by ballistic missiles. It includes, but is not limited to, such measures as the use of antiballistic missiles and electronic countermeasures.
