Adapter slots

The sockets built into a PC motherboard that are designed to seat adapter cards. See also Accelerated Graphics Port, Industry Standard Architecture, Extended Industry Standard Architecture, Micro Channel Architecture, and Peripheral Component Interface. (All represent specific types of adapter slots.)
