Presentation layer

Layer 6 of the OSI reference model, is called presentation layer. Here data may be encrypted and/or compressed to facilitate delivery. Platform-specific application formats are translated into generic data formats for transmission or from generic data formats into platform-specific application formats for delivery to the Application layer.

Presentation Layer— ensures the smooth transmission of information. It receives the input from the sending device, attaches a header to it, and sends the information to the session layer. Any decryption (opposite of encryption) is also done in this layer. This layer is uses end-to-end protocol.
