Split-brain technique

Split-brain technique is a surgical technique for severing the connections between the brain hemispheres to relieve, for example, severe epileptic seizures. People who have undergone this operation lose the ability to integrate sensations from both halves of the body and to coordinate the movements of limbs on both sides. There is no communication between the two halves of the brain. But it appears as though each half takes on the functions of the whole brain, resulting in two separate and independent brains and a double mind.
