Telecommunications— Any transmission, emission, or reception of signs, signals, writings, images, sounds, or information of any nature by wire, radio, visual, or other electromagnetic systems.

Telecommunications refers to transmitting different forms of data (text, images, voice, graphics, etc.) over different media from one set of electronic devices, also referred to as nodes, to another set of electric devices that are geographically separated.
