The role of neural networks in information processing

A neural network is a program that models the capabilities of the human brain; it consists of a network of processors that are connected, and behave, like neurons. Neural networks (NNs) can find patterns that may not be obvious to the human eye and can detect and perceive correlations among hundreds of variables, whereas humans can consider only two or three variables at a time.
