Archetypes

According to Jung, archetypes means universal symbolic representations of a particular person, object, or experience (such as good and evil).

Archetype is the  jung's term for the contents of what he called the collective unconsicious , a set of behaviour patterns that were supposedly passed on from generation to generation as the common heritage of mankind. Evidence for this archetype, according to lung, lay in the similarity of symbols in different cultures across time and place for fertility, birth, death and so on.
