BASIC

BASIC is an acronym for Beginners’ All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, a program developed at Dartmouth College in 1964 by John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz. It is usually the first computer language that novice programmers learn. BASIC is a procedure-oriented, general-purpose language that is widely used for commercial and scientific applications. It is flexible and easy to learn, but is not portable.
