People who were born between the years of 1946-1964 are known as “baby boomers” and this generation is called the Boomer Generation.
Understanding the Boomer Generation
The term "baby boomers" refers to a phenomenon known as the baby boom. This boom was caused by an increase in birth rates following World War II. From 1946 through 1964, 3-4 million infants were born each year, continuing the trend.
This fast increase in births is due to a variety of factors. Those who desired families had waited till after the war to have children in certain circumstances. The Great Depression's economic instability and the conflict had finally subsided by this point. Soldiers came home from war and were eager to start families and offer a better life for their children.
Baby boomers grew up in a world of black-and-white television and now live in an era of Wi-Fi, cellphones, and machine learning. Many of the first computer-age pioneers, such as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, are baby boomers.
Although there is considerable variance depending on the birth years of the Boomer Generation, 1946–1964, is the commonly acknowledged range. The US-based research facility well recognized for charting demographic trends, the Pew Research Center adopts this spectrum. Baby boomers' parents were part of both the Silent and Greatest Generations.
