Catatonic

Catatonic is a marked psychomotor disturbance that may involve stupor or mutism, negativism, rigidity, purposeless excitement and inappropriate or bizarre posturing. Catatonic schizophrenia is a form of the illness characterized by a tendency to remain in a fixed stuporous state for long periods. This catatonia may give way to short periods of extreme excitement.


Catatonic is the descriptive of psychotic state generally considered to be a form of schizophrenia. characterized by violent changes in behavior from mainly rigid, frozen states (including catalepsy) to occasional extremes of excitement and activity.
