Competitive Intelligence

Competitive intelligence is referred to the information that is gathered by a firm to learn about its competitors. Obtaining sound competitive intelligence is not always a simple task. If a competitor is a publicly traded firm a description of the firm’s business and its financial information is available through annual reports filed with the Securities an Exchange Commission (SEC).


Competitive intelligence is the analysis of the industries in which a firm operates as input to the firm’s strategic positioning and to understand competitor vulnerabilities.
