Episodic memory

In contrast, episodic memory is memory for events that occur in a particular time, place or context. For example, recall of learning to ride a bike, our first kiss, or arranging a surprise 21st birthday party for our brother is based on episodic memories. Episodic memory relate to particular contexts. For example, remembering when and how we learned that 2 x 2 = 4 would be an episodic memory; the fact itself (that 2 x 2 = 4) is a semantic memory.

Episodic memory is a memory of personal significance which includes the circumstances in which a particular episode (event) occurred.
