Habituation

Habituation is the decrease in the response to a response to a stimulus that occurs after repeated presentations of the same stimulus.


In experimental psychology, decreasing response to a stimulus as it becomes more familiar through repeated presentation. With reference to drug use habituation is the condition, resulting from repeated use of a drug, where there is a psychological, though not a physical, and dependence on the drug but with little or no desire to increase the dose.
