Programmed Learning

Programmed learning is a systematic method for teaching job skills, involving presenting questions or facts, allowing the person to respond, and giving the learner immediate feedback on the accuracy his or her answers.

Generally, programmed learning presents facts and follow-up questions frame by frame. When the learner responds, subsequent frames provide feedback on the answer’s accuracy. What the next question is often depends on how the learner answers the previous question.

Programmed learning is a system of self-instruction based on operant conditioning where tasks to be mastered are broken down into small steps. The subject is given feedback about his mastery of each step as he goes along.
