Request for information refers to

1. Any specific time-sensitive ad hoc requirement for intelligence information or products to support an ongoing crisis or operation not necessarily related to standing requirements or scheduled intelligence production.

2. A term used by the National Security Agency/Central Security Service to state ad hoc signals intelligence requirements. Also called RFI.
