Self-serving bias

Self-serving bias means the tendency for individuals to attribute their success to internal factors while putting the blame for failures on external factors.


Self-Serving Bias is the tendency to attribute our own positive outcomes to internal causes (e.g., our own traits or characteristics) but negative outcomes or events to external causes (e.g,. chance task difficulty).


Self-serving bias is a form of fundamental attribution error applied to oneself (one's self).
