Underwriting

Underwriting is the process used by an insurance company to determine who, or what, to insure and how much to charge.


Underwriting is the buying new securities from the businesses that issued them and attempting to resell those securities at a profit to other investors.


Underwriting can be defined as purchase securities from a corporation at a predetermined price and then resell them in the market.


Underwriting is the selection and classification of applicants for insurance through a clearly stated company policy consistent with company objectives.
