Write-Once, Read-Many (WORM)

Write-Once, Read-Many (WORM) is a special kind of CD-ROM where data once recorded, but read many times and cannot be erased without special equipment. WORM is an excellent storage medium for achieves and backups. Rewritable optical disks are available, but they require special laser equipment to rewrite the contents of the disk.
