Strategic information system (SIS)

Strategic information system is a system that delivers information products and services that play a direct and prominent role in helping the firm achieve its strategic goals.

This system also supplies and organization with business intelligence, or competitive information.

If an information system helps a firm gain an edge over its competitors, or at the very least helps it to keep up with the competition, in can be viewed as a system of strategic importance.

Strategic information systems can be external or internal systems.
