Occam's Razor is a principle, suggested by the medieval philosopher William of Occam, that has been accepted as fundamental to scientific explanation: if there are rival explanations for a given phenomenon the simplest must always be chosen. Lloyd Morgan's Canon is fashioned from the same material as Occam's Razor.
