Working memory

In this increasingly influential view, short-term memory is referred to as working memory and defined as a set of temporary memory stores that actively manipulate and rehearse information.


Working memory, also referred to as the “blackboard”, is a component of an expert system. It is a temporary storage area where the initial data, the intermediate results, and the problem-solving steps are stored.
