Discrimination-behavior directed toward individuals on the basis of their membership in a particular group.

It is the process of recognizing differences in sets of similar stimuli and adjusting responses accordingly.

Discrimination refers to psychology this is simply the ability to perceive differences between two sensory stimuli. In a social or political context 'difference' often comes to signify something to be feared and rejected, i.e. to discriminate against.
