Normal trade status

Normal trade status— the term currently used to describe what economists used to call “most-favored nation” status. Normal trade status is the application by a country of import duties on the same (i.e. “most favored”) basis to all countries accorded such treatment. Any tariff reduction granted in a bilateral negotiation to a specific country will be automatically extended to all other nations that have been granted normal trade status.
