Department of State Health Services (DSHS)
Department of State Health Services (DSHS) - This agency of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission brings together the former Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the Texas Department of Health, the mental health services of the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and the Texas Health Care Information Council. With the consolidation of these four agencies, DSHS now includes treatment and prevention for mental illness and substance abuse in its public health framework. The focus is on improving the health of all Texans.
