Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 is the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows employees who have met minimum service requirements (12 months employed by the company with 1,250 hours of service in the preceding 12 months) to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year for:
(1) a serious health condition;
(2) to care for a family member with a serious health condition;
(3) the birth of a child; or
(4) the placement of a child for adoption or foster care.
