Information system is a system that creates, processes, stores, and retrieves information. The input to such a system is data; processed data becomes information.

Information systems facilitate organizational decision making. They are guided by sets of policies, principles, procedures, and resources. Various social, technical, and environmental factors influence the design and development of such systems.

Information system is the organized method for collecting, storing, and communicating past, present, and projected information on internal operations and external intelligence.
