Interest rate floors
Interest rate floors are put options on an interest rate. Interest rate floor refers to an option to receive the compensating payment (cash settlement) when the reference interest rate falls below the strike rate of the floor. A floor guarantees the buyer of the floor option a minimum interest rate to be received (rate of return on notional principal invested) for a specified reinvestment period or series of periods.
