McDonaldization

McDonaldization is the process by which the principles of the fast-food restaurant are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of the rest of the world.

Definition Two:

McDonaldization means George Ritzer’s term for rationalization, the identical process extensively described by Weber. Ritzer coined the term because modern audiences, including students, could easily relate to fast food restaurants.
