Scatter infrared network is an infrared LAN technology that uses flat reflective surfaces such as walls and ceilings to bounce wireless transmissions between sender and receiver. Because bouncing introduces delays and attenuation, this variety of wireless LAN is the slowest and supports the narrowest bandwidth of any of the infrared technologies.
