Transaction File
A transaction file is a file that contains information about transactions that are processed as a batch and that occurred in a given period of time.
It is processed using techniques such as sorting to update the master file which is a permanent record of all transactions that have occurred.
Each time the master file is updated with information from the transaction file, a new master file, including most current transaction data, is generated.
