Transport layer

Layer 4 of the OSI reference model. The transport layer is responsible for fragmenting large PDUs from the session layer for delivery across the network and for inserting sufficient integrity controls and managing delivery mechanisms to allow for their error-free reassembly on the; receiving end of a network transmission.
