Credit memorandum

Sometimes a depositor asks the bank to collect its notes receivable. In such a case, the bank will credit the depositor’s account for the cash proceeds of the note. The bank issues and sends with the statement a credit memorandum to explain the entry. Many banks also offer interest on checking accounts. The interest earned may be indicating on the bank statement by the symbol CM or INT.
