Media operations center

Definition (1):

Media operations center refers to a facility that is established by the commander to serve as the focal point for the interface between the military and the media during the conduct of military operations.  It is also referred to as MOC.

At present, combined, joint, and Army media centers meet the need for a central point for the news media while media operations. The MOC is a command post for media support functions. It plays the role of the primary information center as well as logistic support and coordination foundation for commercial news organizations taking coverage of the operation.

MOCs are organized when huge numbers of news media representatives are expected for covering military activities. MOCs can be developed for all kinds of operations or any phase within an operation.
