Definition (3):
“None of the intelligence, design, and choice phases is structured and human intuition is frequently the basis for decision-making.”
The name suggests that these problems are hard to deal with and don’t respond suitably to different conventional decision tools for analysis. The main problem lies in that these problems, sometimes need a mixture of fact-based data analysis and greatly subjective and often intuitive judgments about the problems’ aspects.
An unstructured problem can be resolved with a six-step process and the steps are as follows:
1. Identifying the problem
2. Selecting criteria
3. Developing alternatives
4. Analysis
5. Decision
6. Creating an action plan.
